Under the surface

UNDER THE SURFACE

Original oil painting on linen — 99 × 130 cm

Under the Surface is about everything we carry that other people never see.

The thoughts we keep to ourselves, memories that come back without warning, and feelings that are difficult to explain. I wanted the painting to have that same sense of depth — something that might feel calm at first, but becomes more complex the longer you stay with it.

There are parts that reveal themselves immediately and others that almost disappear beneath the layers. That tension between what we show and what remains underneath is what shaped the painting.
